Healthy Holiday Side Dishes
/Healthy Holiday Sides in Under 1 Hour
We hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their Holiday season! Today we decided to share four simple recipes to make over the Holidays!
First, we decided to make simple sautéed asparagus and mushrooms. Sautéing with olive oil and spicing with salt and paprika add powerful flavor to these veggies in minutes. Keeping some Holiday dishes simple will ease your massive amounts of cooking, as well as keep some of your guests food healthy!
Second, we decided to make corn on the cob with butter and paprika. This is a fun recipe to make, because it can be left alone in the oven without having to give too much attention to it. It can also be customized based on the guest, adding different condiments or spices to each one.
Our third recipe is a basic mashed potatoes recipe. But, for this we decided to keep the skins on the potatoes, to maximize the nutrients in the mashed potatoes and keep the dishes on the healthier side! Most of the potato skins blended in perfectly when we mixed the mashed potatoes, so it wasn’t a problem at all!
Our last recipe was Kale chips! We have been wanting to try these out for the longest time, and I am so glad we finally did. These turned out crunchy, flavorful, and nothing like I had expected. It is important to massage the kale before adding the olive oil and spices (again, we used paprika). These were an absolutely amazing touch to the side dishes and offered a nice crunch filled with vitamins and minerals without even trying! To make these easy chips, simply rinse the kale with water while massaging, add olive oil and paprika and massage into the leaves, and cook for roughly 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Kale chips tend to burn easy, so it is important to watch the chips every few minutes, until they reach your desired crunch.
All together, these recipes took less than an hour too cook, and would be a perfect addition to any Holiday meal!
As always, let us know if you decide to try out any of our fun, yet healthy recipes. We hope everyone has a great Holiday season!
